Can transmit Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever, which causes deaths in Turkey every year. NEVER pull an attached tick off with bare fingers, crush it, or apply cologne, petrol or a cigarette — these increase transmission. Remove it with tweezers as close to the skin as possible, pulling straight and slowly, or go to a health centre. Watch for fever, weakness, muscle pain and bruising for ten days.
