THE MOST DANGEROUS SCORPION IN TURKEY, common around Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Mardin. Its sting can be FATAL, especially to small children, causing severe pain, sweating, vomiting, cardiac arrhythmia and pulmonary oedema. Keep the person still and get to hospital IMMEDIATELY — antivenom is available. Do not cut, suck, tourniquet or apply alcohol. Active at night in mud walls, stones, woodpiles and shoes left outdoors; always shake out footwear in the region.
